چکیده
Abstract Introduction: The results of two spiroergometric measurements are presented that were taken from a spinal cord injured patient who participated in FES cycling training sessions for 11 months. Methods: 4 and months after starting the program. We investigated respiratory exchange ratio (RER) ventilation (VE/VO2, VE’/VCO2) ratios cadence sessions. Results: In first assessment, RER was below 1, which is anaerobic limit. Seven later, second value exceeded limit few times remained above it at end session. VE /VO2 VE/VCO2 curves did not intersect during assessment. one, VE/VO2 intersected several oxygen quotient curve carbon dioxide curve. achieved low but similar speed assessments. Conclusion: Through activation paralyzed muscles with we able to train paraplegic aerobic zones. This shown by RER, reached assessment range longer time.

Effect of FES Cycling Training on Spasticity in Spinal Cord Injured Subjects
Training with Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) has both physiological and psychological benefits for spinal cord injured subjects. Commonly used methods for quantification of spasticity have shown controversial reliability. In this study we propose a method for quick determination of spasticity in spinal cord injured subjects on a cycling and measurement system. 23 patients did training ...

A group of 37 spinal cord injured (SCI) patients underwent bone density measurements at the distal and proximal end of the tibia by a special computed tomography scanner, the OsteoQuant. Fifteen of these patients had follow-up measurements while enrolled in a lower-limb exercise training program with functional electrical stimulation (FES). The pre-exercise measurements revealed a strong correl...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF CIS APRIDE ON CONS TIPATION DUE TO SPINAL CORD INJURY: REPORT OF FIVE WARFARE SPINAL CORD INJURED PATIENTS
Five warfare spinal cord injured patients with intractable constipation are described. Treatment with cisapride (4 x 10 mg daily) was undertaken. The agent cisapride significantly reduced the oral-anal transit time from 25.2 days to 14.4 days. It also improved other subjective complaints of these patients markedly. No side effects were seen during the trial.

Opérant conditioning of the spinal stretch reflex or its electrical analog, the H-reflex, is a new model for exploring the mechanisms of long-term supraspinal control over spinal cord function. Primates and rats can gradually increase (HRup conditioning mode) or decrease (HRdown conditioning mode) the H-reflex when reward is based on H-reflex amplitude. An earlier study indicated that HRdown co...
